27in. nitro chopperlump barrels, the ribs engraved in script 'The Royal' and gold-inlaid '1', '2' and '3' at the breech ends, the tubes engraved 'HOLLAND & HOLLAND. 13. BRUTON STREET, LONDON.', 2 1/2in. chambers, bored approx. 1/4 and imp. cyl. (No.1), imp. cyl in both (No.2) and 1/4 both (No.3), toplevers gold-inlaid '1', '2' and '3', automatic safeties with gold-inlaid 'SAFE' details, hand-detachable lockplates, gold-inlaid cocking-indicators, rolled-edge triggerguards, best bold Royal scroll engraving, the undersides engraved 'THE "ROYAL" MODEL' in elaborate cartouches, bright finish overall, 14 3/4in. well-figured stocks (slightly swept at combs), weight 6lb. 7oz. (No.1 & 2) and 7lb. 8oz. (No.3), gun No. 1 and 2 in a lightweight leather motor case, No.3 in a single lightweight leather case

Provenance: The makers have kindly confirmed that gun nos. 40010 / 1 were ordered as a pair of 12-bore Royals with 27in. barrels in May 1969 and were delivered on the 26th November 1971. Gun no. 40205 was ordered on the 17th May 1974, finished on the 26th June 1976 and was made for the same client as 'a No.3 gun to match Gun no. 40010/1'
